So it turns out that the New Zealand Football Media Awards are a bit like the Eurovision Song Contest – if you win one, you run the risk of having to organise the whole thing next year…
After running these for many years, NZME journo Simon Kay has decided that it’s time for a thoroughly well deserved rest from it. It was looking a bit like the whole thing would fall over completely in the absence of somebody else willing to receive the baton, and so in order to avoid that from occurring I have agreed to convene the awards this year.
The good/bad news (depending on your perspective) resulting from this is I won’t be entering this year to avoid any conflicts of interest. I’m sure Michael Burgess is breathing a huge sigh of relief as he reads this!! ;-P
Due to all of this taking a while to work its way through, we are quite late in calling for entries. In light of that I thought I would give it a bit of a signal boost by posting the details here.
Get amongst it!
