Brian “Stan” Stanyer was Mt Albert Ponsonby to his core, he loved the club, the people and of course the game.

He was, in all respects, the heartbeat of the club. From playing for the gold and blue in the 70s and 80s, to becoming a key part of the coaching and management team. At one point or another, “Stan” held every committee position there was and was constantly looking for ways to make his club better for everyone associated with MAP family.

When he passed away last October it left a hole at Mt Albert Ponsoby that will never be filled and that’s why having the Brian “Stan”Stanyer memorial  game each season is so crucial.  It’s important that we all remember our footballing brother and celebrate his contribution to the game, so that we can carry on his work and inspire others to play this sport that we all love.

This game couldn’t go ahead without the wonderful help of Auckland City FC and Central United, who have provided amazing support to us at this hardest of time. For this we are exceptionally grateful.

Please get along to Anderson Park on March 19th and enjoy the day as we celebrate the life of one of New Zealand’s footballing family.

  1. Spot on Earlo. He has left a huge hole at our club. This will be a brilliant celebration of Stan’s commitment to MAP.

  2. We miss him but he will always be watching Anderson Park. We are the Chosen Few. Come on the Albert.
