International stardom

dsc06505

Just a very quick post to draw readers’ attention to a couple of interviews with members of the in-the-back-of-the.net family who one might refer to, in a technical sense, as ‘media sluts’…

Firstly, regular ITBOTN guest poster Rod de Lisle was recently interviewed by another ITBOTN regular guest poster, Bruce Holloway (AKA Cordwainer Bull), for the New Zealand Herald about being a not-so-tragic-anymore Leicester City fan. It’s a cracking read that showcases the great senses of humour these guys both possess and just goes to show what can be achieved when people from Melville United and Hamilton Wanderers work together! We’ll be brokering peace in the Middle East next.

The other piece I thought I might as well mention here is a bit of a brag… I was interviewed recently by the official A.S. Roma website about being a fan of the world’s greatest club living in New Zealand. It was an honour to be asked to do it and I think it came out quite well!

  1. Kind words, Enzo.

But in my mind I still tend to categorize Rod de Lisle more as an aging Waikato Unicol tragic who somehow took a wrong turn down Crosby Rd. Did you know Rod once got a speeding ticket racing to Strathmore Park, Tokoroa, to turn out for Waikato Unicol’s fifth team.

I’ve yet to hear that he’s made a similar sacrifice in his time with Wanderers Sports Club. 🙂
